Anyone have any knowledge. I see Walmart carries them. I know they aren't a sophiscated machine.....but you allways feels like (or i do anyway), that when you buy something at Walmart...that you were NOT ripped off in any way.

Uuuh, what? I have a AMD64 3200+ with 512 GB ram 150 HDD, dual DVDRW and PCI-X slot for about 340 USD on a promotion from tiger direct about 5 months ago. I added 1gig ram for 1.5 total and a GeForce 6600GT 128 DDR3 memory with Dual DVI and I believe I have an absolutely blasting machine that has worked 24/7 for 5 months without the smallest glitch of a problem. Emachines offer absolutely unbeatable price/performance ratio if you can find a promotional deal.

Walmart's version sells for (monitor included) $498.
But I didn't check the specs.
Am certain it isn't up to what you have there Zee. Sounds like you think highly of it . I'm not computer saavy in ANY way....so I have to take as is if I go that direction.

I believe Walmart computers are running Linux. If will look a little different. Buyer beware.

E-machines are garbage from what I've heard from countless people including: My mother-inlaw, cousin and 2 friends of mine... All of them had pretty much the same problem: over-heating and it would shut down on it's own, or the fans would crap out. Goto Geeves and do a search on E-machines, find a forum or page that reviews them and do some research before you buy..

There are other cheap options out there, as stated above HP's are a great cheap option and you can get them pretty much anywhere...

I probably will not buy one. But my doctor uses one in his office to store patient info. Looks like it stays on all the time. He's had it about a year.

I like HP--that's what I have now--a 6 year old model. IF I get anything it will probably be another HP. I like the way you connect them. Orange colored plug goes into the orange colored portion....red into red,,,,Perfect for a dummy like me. LOL

Am not buying anything till, I see what Congres does with the gambling bill or bills on the table.

When you can get a decent brand name PC for under a grand, why even bother with these pieces of shit?

J-U-N-K!!! I've never heard anyone EVER say anything to the contrary.

I got an e machines. Just spend the extra 200 dollars for a 3 year warranty so if anything goes wrong, they fix it or replace it. Atleast you know it will be good for 3 years for that cheap price.
